Le faux titre porte : "Letters to and from Mr. Wilkes". - Outre la correspondance échangée entre J. Wilkes et une partie des correspondants cités au titre, on trouve : "A Letter to the earl of Bute, supposed to have been written by Mr. Wilkes. It was prefixed to the new edition of "The Fall of Mortimer, a tragedy" [, by William Mountford] ; a Letter to the worthy electors of the borough of Aylesbury, in the county of Bucks. ; a Letter to His grace the duke of Grafton, first commissioner of His Majesty's Treasury", datée : "London, Nov. 1, 1766] ; a Second letter to the duke of Grafton", datée : "Paris, Dec. 12, 1766". - D'après le "Dictionary of national biography", ce volume aurait été édité par J. Wilkes lui-même à son imprimerie privée de "Great George street", à Londres".
